Welcome to the AMSAT-UK Colloquium pages! The AMSAT-UK Colloquium is usually held at the end of July (in 2008 it will be from Friday 25 July to Sunday 27 July). The venue is as previous years at the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK The 2008 Colloquium will be our 23rd, and as usual, we will have an interesting and fun programme for all our visitors. As always, the Colloquium is a chance to talk to the satellite designers and builders, and to find out how to use amateur radio satellites. We had a beginners session on Friday As last year, the event will be held in the new Management Building/lecture theatre. Its location can be found here. We hope you enjoy the new surroundings. All the normal facilities will be there. In 2007 we returned to having lunch in Seasons restaurant, which is a short walk through the campus. As in previous years, you DO NOT have to be a member of AMSAT to attend, and you can either stay overnight in the University's student accommodation, or attend as a "Day Visitor" for one or more days. If you wish to spend an extra night either before or after the event, this is possible, and can be booked on the booking form when available. If you want any meals during the Colloquium, day visitors MUST book at least a week in advance, and the price will include a buffet lunch. New for 2008, we have arranged with the University for "walkin" day delegates for £10 per day. For this, you do not get any meals, only attendance at lectures/beginners sessions. It does not entitle you to any other of the functions. There is no need to book, just turn up on the day. It would help if you could let us know in advance if you intend using this facility, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it A booking form, and registration details are online now - click "How to Book" on the menu, meanwhile these pages hopefully give you an idea of what to expect - its an excellent weekend for anyone interested in amateur satellites! |
