Colloquium Keynote Presentation - Spies in the Sky

The Colloquium keynote lecture will be given by Pat Norris, Chairman of the Royal Aeronautical Society Space Group, entitled "Spies in the Sky: Surveillance Satellites in War and Peace". Starting with Sputnik 1 and the impact of its launch 50 years ago both on the Soviets and on the West, Pat will discuss the social, economic and scientific benefits of satellites today in our daily lives some 50 years later.  Pat is the author of a new book of the same name, which is due out in August.

His presentation will take place on Friday and will be followed by the SSC Research Poster Exhibition and SSTL satellite ground station tours.

The event is open to all. Either day passes or full packages comprising overnight accommodation and meals at the University are available. There is an online booking service for PayPal, Visa and Master Card payments.

The RSGB GB4FUN van will be present throughout the event to allow visitors to work the satellites. A Beginners Workshop will be held on Friday and an RSGB bookstall will be available on Saturday morning.

The event is open to all, for further details see Colloquium/ on the AMSAT-uk website.
