There are no Primary Amateur Satellite Service allocations between 146 MHz and 24 GHz. These Microwave Amateur Satellite allocations are only on a Secondary basis. This means they are under increasing pressure from commercial users (Wimax, Galileo, auctions etc) and the WRC-07 process. In addition they are prone to significant interference from unlicensed WiFi, Video Senders etc. Furthermore, several existing satellite microwave segments are nowhere near the areas used for weak signal terrestrial or EME operation. Frequency allocations are a matter of great concern to the Amateur Satellite community and so the presentation by the RSGB Microwave Manager Murray Niman G6JYB on “The Future of Amateur Satellite Spectrum” will be received with great interest. The presentation will summarise both the challenges and opportunities for Amateur Satellite spectrum and future satellite designers from 50 MHz to beyond 50 GHz. The RSGB GB4FUN van will be present throughout the event to allow visitors to work the satellites and an RSGB bookstall will be available on Saturday. On Friday there will be a special "Beginners Workshop" to show newcomers how to use the many Amateur Satellites that are available. The event is open to all Amateurs, SWL's and those interested in Space. Either Day passes or full packages comprising overnight accommodation and meals at the University are available. An online booking service is available with PayPal, Visa and Master Card payments accepted.
