Jodrell Bank this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, and way back in 1957 it was used to track Sputnik-1. The BBC TV programme "The Sky at Night " ran a special edition at the beginning of October 2007 to cover the history of Jodrell Bank.

Jodrell Bank is just a few miles out of Manchester, and is part of the University of Manchester (where the AMSAT-UK webserver is based).
