| Jodrell Bank and e-MERLIN Funding |

(Seen on The University of Manchester StaffNet Update) 20 Mar 2008 Members of University staff will no doubt have seen recent reports in the media regarding the funding of the e-MERLIN project and the implications for the future of Jodrell Bank. The threat to e-MERLIN arises from recommendations made by the Programmatic Review undertaken by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). See more details on the Jodrell Bank website: A significant number of other projects involving activities at The University of Manchester or undertaken by University staff are also included in the STFC Programmatic Review. Many members of staff from this University and the wider scientific community have made representations to the STFC about e-MERLIN and other projects at this University as part of the public consultation process. The University is engaged in a range of discussions designed to remove the threat to e-MERLIN and Jodrell Bank and mitigate the potential damage to the University's research activities in Physics.
