Starchaser Unveils its new Skybolt Rocket Prototype

Starchaser Industries, Britain’s leading rocket manufacturing company unveils its prototype SKYBOLT SOUNDING ROCKET at Salford University at 10am on Thursday 28th September.

The SKYBOLT rocket, which will be flown from an overseas launch site next year is the first of a new generation of large scale, privately funded unmanned rockets that can carry science experiments over 130km (83 miles) into space.

SKYBOLT will also make the first British space launch in over 35 years since the Government cancelled Britain’s national space programme back in 1971.

“SKYBOLT really is breaking new ground as it is powered using liquid fuel and it is totally reusable, which slashes traditional launch costs” commented Steve Bennett, Salford University Space lecturer and Managing Director of Manchester based Starchaser Industries Ltd.

In addition to lofting undergraduate projects from Salford University’s Physics with Space Technology degree course, the 9 METRE (30 FOOT) TALL SKYBOLT serves as a test bed for Starchaser’s Space Tourism programme that will turn ordinary people into real astronauts.

SKYBOLT rockets will also be used as part of Starchaser’s Educational Outreach Programme [space4schools], which visits more than 200 schools every year with the aim of encouraging youngsters to consider careers in science and engineering.

After a photo opportunity outside Salford University’s Maxwell Hall, SKYBOLT together with Nova, Starchaser’s “people carrying” rocket, will take to the busy A6 at about 10:45, and pass through the city of Manchester, where the missiles in convoy are sure to halt traffic.
