Attractions and Events

Please find below a list of various activities that happen over the weekend

  • We hold a Gala Dinner on Saturday evening. Usually there is some form of 'entertainment' after the dinner
  • In the 'AMSAT Office' we run a bring an buy shop. Bring your pre-enjoyed space radio gear, and we'll do our best to sell it for you at a small commission.
  • There is a raffle, and opportunities to purchase tickets are made throughout the weekend. All proceeds go to fund the amateur space programme. Prizes are drawn at the Gala dinner on Saturday evening
  • We hold a series of talks aimed specifically for beginners on Friday afternoon
  • The annual IARU satelitte coordination meeting will be held during the weekend
  • On Friday evening, the evening meal is in the form of an outdoor BBQ (weather permitting!) .
  • On Friday or Saturday evening (after the dinner) we hold a 'pub' type quiz, with the subject, of course, of amateur radio satellites
  • The staff of the University of Surrey show visitors round the SSTL facilities (including satellite clean rooms/construction, as well as the ground control station).
  • We have a continuous stream of lectures and presentations most of which are directly relevant to amateur satellite construction/operation. They vary from details of the latest spacecraft design techniques to operation through satellite transponders. We normally have speakers to update us on the latest news from teams currently constructing satellites.
    GB4FUN at the 2005 Colloquium
  • On Sunday afternoon we hold the Annual General Meeting of AMSAT-UK. All are welcome, but only members may vote.
  • As last year, in 2006, the RSGB schools mobile display vehicle, GB4FUN will be in attendance.
