Our search program uses the ht://Dig system. This system is not meant to replace the need for powerful internet-wide search systems like Lycos, Infoseek, Google and AltaVista. Instead it is meant to cover the search requirements for finding something on (English language) web sites which are about the satellite part of the amateur radio hobby. Currently searches are confined to the AMSAT-UK and AMSAT-NA web sites only. The amsat-bb and sarex mailing lists from 1998 are grouped together inder 'Mailing Lists'

It's unfortunate that *any* satellite's name (which might otherwise be the most popular search term) will match with every single issue of the AMSAT News Service bulletins, since each issue of the bulletins contains a rundown on all the satellites. It wouldn't be good to exclude ANS from the search, because there are lots of unindexed tidbits in the main bulletins, but with many hundreds of hits for each search, it's pretty useless so try to stylise your search text with this in mind. At least with "sort by score" you get the bulletins where the satellite name is part of the title sorted ahead of ones where it's merely mentioned. We are trying to figure out a way round this.
